Last week we received this envelope in the mail, with the exciting news that we are…..
HOME STUDY APPROVED!!!
Basically, this means we are now officially approved to adopt a child. YAY!!! One step closer to Baby Swiger 🙂
We are really thankful for this news, and excited to move forward in this process. It’s really been a great process so far, and we would have no qualms with going through it again one day if God wills. It was a blessing to get to know our case worker, and grow in our understanding of domestic adoption, during the home study interviews. God is so faithful to us!
So, you’re probably wondering what this means for us now, and what our next step is. As I shared in a post a few weeks ago, we need to come up with $7,000 before we can start showing our profile book to expectant mothers. That’s about half of our final placement fee, which includes required post-adoptive counseling.
Currently, we only need $1,500 more to reach that first goal and begin showing our profile! Ahh, we are so close! Again, God has been so faithful to us, and that money was provided much faster than we could ever have anticipated. It’s really unbelievable to us sometimes. Adam and I can share story after story about how God has provided for us….many of which include the most unlikely sources!
We count it a tremendous privilege to be in a position of great need, depending on a GREAT GOD to provide.
So now we continue to wait, and continue to pray that God would provide for all of our needs in His timing. Although I’ll be honest, we are praying that He would provide quickly! We can’t wait to meet our son or daughter! Including the above $1,500, we only need a minimum of $8,500 more to pay for our adoption in full. Additional expenses may arise, but we are hoping to avoid any of those if possible. We trust that God will provide the exact amount that we need to welcome Baby Swiger into our home.
The below verse is one that I’m memorizing this week. It doesn’t have much to do with our exciting news, except it’s on my mind and heart this week. I believe the truth in this verse is more exciting than anything else on earth. I pray you’re blessed by it.
“The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.” ~ Psalm 103: 8-10
