We are thrilled to announce that we have completed our adoption paperwork! Thank you, Jesus! Everything has been submitted to our agency, and we are currently waiting to start our home study.
We had been waiting on one last thing (10 years proof of income for Adam), and were told from the IRS that it would be four months (!!) for us to receive it. Last Monday (October 31), Adam spent a good chunk of the morning on the phone with Social Security, trying to get a statement from them. They are no longer mailing statements, and we were told to go to our local branch to get one. We planned to do so the following week.
A couple hours later, Adam checked the mail, and there it was! Our original request, to the IRS, came through much earlier than expected! God’s providence? Certainly! A miracle? Maybe 🙂
In all honesty, the paperwork wasn’t too terrible, and we don’t have anything to complain about. It definitely took time, but it wasn’t exceedingly difficult to do. We slowly worked through it, on our days off, and spent about three months doing so. I’d have no problem tackling it again someday!
We have been really thankful that God has instilled in us a ton of peace and contentment about this process so far. We are often asked if we’re anxious about the process, and if we want to speed things us. We can honestly say “No, not at all!” God’s timing is perfect, and we feel great about where we currently are. Will that change as we move further along? Maybe. My sinful bent is towards worry and anxiety, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Satan tempts me there. Please pray for us as we move deeper into this process.
After receiving our last piece of paperwork, Adam and I celebrated! We love celebrating the little things together. This milestone, of finishing our paperwork, was very celebration worthy!
Here we are at one of our favorite places, (Dunkin Donuts), sippin’ on some pumpkin coffee, enjoying some chocolate frosted donuts, and thanking God for His faithfulness and goodness towards us.
Here’s to starting the home study!
